The beginning
Franki & Remi was founded by Sam Mellor, a designer and entrepreneur whose love for travel, textiles, and family is woven into every kaftan she creates. Inspired by the sun-drenched shores of the Mediterranean, Sam set out to design clothing that captures the effortless elegance of coastal living.
A brand named after family
The name Franki & Remi comes from Sam’s two children, whose playful spirit and authenticity are at the heart of the brand. Each piece is designed to embody the comfort, joy, and timelessness of family
The journey
Before founding her own label, Sam worked as a buyer at Woolworths, where she developed her eye for fabrics, trends, and design. Her travels, wandering through Mediterranean markets, coastal villages, and vibrant artisan workshops also gave her the inspiration to create kaftans that are versatile, timeless, and truly global.
Our fabrics
This season marks a new chapter: Franki & Remi now designs and prints its own fabrics. Each motif begins as a hand-drawn sketch, transformed into textiles that reflect Sam’s artistry, love of detail, and commitment to slow fashion. By creating original fabrics, every kaftan tells a story of individuality and craftsmanship.

Franki & Remi is part of the Du Cap Collection, a premier lifestyle group of companies co-founded by Sam and her husband, William Mellor. Together, they’ve built a portfolio spanning aviation, hospitality, fashion, furniture manufacture, and luxury travel.
